"Carbon Fiber Sasquatch" (turbopumpkin)

After reading @lanciere post about the Beetle, I’d thought I’d look up what the Beetle currently offers. I found this nonsense.
Yes, it’s a model designated 2.0T instead of 1.8T yet still retains the 1.8L turbo engine.
I think German humor is lost on me...

Just trying to be more BMW. #JustGermanThings
330i = 3.0L I6 Engine
328i = 330i = 2.0 I4 Turbo Engine
540i = 4.0L V8 Engine
535i = M540i = 3.0 I6 Turbo Engine
If only EssExTee could be so grossly incandescent

Just German things.
Everyone else is making 200+ hp out of 1.6T and 270+ hp out of 2.0T. And here comes VW with their 2.0T GTI giving you a whopping 210 hp! And then they make you pay extra for performance trim so you can get 220 hp!!! Wow!

Isn’t the GTI refresh going to have like 250hp and like 290lb/ft?

Well it’s about damn time, but they’re still too late. Others are taking off into 300 hp with 2.0Ts.

The unfortunately named Golf R gets about 290hp and its the same engine from the GTI with a tune, I think. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was disappointed with that gas mileage, it’s not much better than my 80s V6.

Well the newer Audi’s with the 2.7T are actually supercharged.

Doesn’t the R-Line share the powertrain with the Turbo, which really is a watered-down GTI engine and 2.0?

It looks like it used to but now it doesn’t? Maybe it’s just a mistake?

The R needs more than just a 2.0L, whether that’s a bigger engine or hybridization it just has to be something more than a tuned AWD GTI.

I’ll gladly do it for 2k with some dental floss.
But I swear I remember seeing on the configurator that designation delete is free... maybe guy got scammed.

I think the gt3 came with custom embroidered seats so they might have to redo those.

The R has a few different internals (wrist pins and forged rods, I believe, among others) and a bigger turbo.
